Help me identify this bird. It looks like a falcon of some kind to
me. We have a whole family that has moved in to the woods behind the
house. We haven't seen as many squirrels lately either....hmmm.
In memory - Walt Mathews
My brother Walt passed away on Feb. 14, 2002. Here are a few video clips
that I thought some of you might enjoy seeing. Two of them are at our
Mother's 90th birthday on Oct. 14, 2001 in Amarillo, Tx. Walt wasn't
feeling too good at the time but he was bound and determined to make the trip to
Amarillo for her party. The morning of her birthday Walt came up with the
idea that us 4 boys should sing a song to Mom. Well, we had never sang
together before but gave it a try. Walt suggested the old barbershop song
"I want a girl just like the girl who married dear ol' Dad". He
knew the words so we worked it up in about 15 minutes which amazed me. And
on top of that, it folks said it sounded pretty decent (I
think a lot of people at Mom's retirement home are a little deaf so that may
have helped.
We also told stories about Mom and so I also put up Walt telling his story
about the time that Mom, Aunt Jane, Angie and Marylynette came to New York to
visit him and Joe.
I will put up more stuff later. You can email me about these if you
want: phil@philmathews.com
Videos of Walt
I went through Dad's old films and video I've taken over the past few years
and made a little montage set to music. I hope you enjoy watching
it. The picture below is Walt in New York City in the late 50's I think.

Our Mother turned 90 on Oct. 14, 2001. This is a short video of Nina
Mathews four sons ( L-R Phil, Bill, Walt, Harry) singing a special song at her
birthday party in Amarillo.

Here is Walt telling his World Trade Center story at Mom's birthday party.
If you have a slow connection to the internet, you may just want to listen to
the audio clip.

Walt's famous slap-dance at the Hoffbrau
This one's pretty funny. In May 1999, Peggy and Phil visited Walt in Munich. Here is a little
video of our last night before flying home. Walt, Martijn and Heinz
(Mathews & Clark staff) took us to the Hoffbrau. Here's a little
video of Walt doing his thing. (By the way, the girl on the right was a
little cutie who we ended up sharing a table with. She was in the US Army
I believe and was leaving for duty the next morning.)

Here is the audio from the memorial service held on March 2, 2002 in Los
Altos, CA

Edd Geoffroy just hit the big 5-0....D.J. had me make a little video montage
of old pictures.
The music is from son Justin's CD "Austin Motel"...He is now in an
Amsterdam hotel, so maybe we'll get some new music from him about his new
experiences.
NOTE on the VIDEO...I had to make it at 80kbps to get it to look half-way
decent. If you have a slower modem, it should still stream, but you may
have to wait a little for it to buffer. Cable or DSL modems should start
streaming immediately.
