Originally hired to produce video training programs for one of the manufacturing areas (MOS 2). I was promoted to Training and Process Control Supervisor within six months supervising 10-15 trainers and 5-6 process control operators, while continuing development and production of training programs. In 1983, I was recruited by Motorola's newest and most sophisticated manufacturing facility (MOS 8) as a Senior Training and Media Specialist. I designed and established a media production facility, and went on to develop a 40 hour orientation package (including video and print materials). After completion of this project, I served a sustaining role for that department as well as providing media production services for various other departments. ACCOMPLISHMENTS: · Developed and programmed a computerized graphics communications system to provide employees a daily electronic bulletin board on manufacturing statistics and general information. · Developed and produced monthly video newscasts used in monthly communications meetings. This has been a regular feature at Motorola since 1981. · Produced an orientation video for all new employees plant wide. Received the Personnel Mark of Excellence Award for this project. · Created game boards for new hire orientation which familiarized people with work process flow, shop orders, company policies, etc. · Produced a series of plant wide video newscasts called The Mformation Network for the general Motorola audience and a series of audio cassette news programs, Motorola Newspeak, for sales and marketing personnel. · Produced a number of programs for the Personnel, Safety, and Occupational Health Services departments in addition to manufacturing training departments.
Originally hired to serve as Chief Daytime Director handling direction of commercials, newscasts, and talk shows. Promoted to Programming and Promotions Director which included creating on-air promotional spots, preparing broadcast schedules for distribution, and ordering syndicated program packages. As Production Manager, I was entirely responsible for an 18 person Production Department. This included Creative Services as well as studio crews. Some of my responsibilities included hiring/firing, scheduling all production time, ordering all supplies (videotape, studio lights, etc.), new employee training, department budgets, public relations and coordination between station departments and clients, setting production priorities, meeting production deadlines, and billing for services rendered. I also served as Producer/Director on several productions in addition to my Production Management duties. Some of my credits are as follows: · 1979 Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon: Served as the Austin area producer. Shot and edited local videotape inserts as well as producing all areas of the on-air production. Received an award from the Muscular Dystrophy Association for outstanding contribution to the telethon. · Super Quiz '79: Produced a 16 week game show series based on the old television show called the G.E. College Bowl featuring contestants from Austin area schools. · Our Christmas Gift To You: Directed a 90 minute special featuring 16 high school choirs shot on location in several areas in and around Austin. · The Future Legends of Golf: Producer/Director of a 30 minute program highlighting a four day high school golf tournament at Onion Creek Country Club in Austin. · Inauguration '79: Director of a statewide live production of Governor Bill Clements' inauguration.
Originally hired as Camera Operator/Projectionist. Soon moved into on-air operations switching local programming and commercial breaks. After eight months, I was promoted to Daytime Director, directing commercial productions as well as a noon talks show and the weekday 6:00pm newscast.
Hired as a videotape Engineer. Duties included operation of 2" Quad videotpae machines on commercial and news production. Also performed equipment set-up and registration using scopes. After one year, moved to Production department where I served as sign-on and sign-off director, projectionist, audio board operator, and camera operator.
Produced educational videotape productions for the Education and Training Center. I was issued a top security clearance for Atomic Energy Commission contract. For the most part, served as a one-person department, including set-up, camera, editing and duplication of training films. |
